Wendy Halsted

Wendy qualified as a music therapist in 1988, following nurse’s training and a BA Honours degree in music, dance and drama. It was while working in an institution for adults with severe learning disabilities in the mid 80’s that she discovered the power of music to reach and communicate with very challenged and isolated individuals. As a music therapist, Wendy has been employed by the Sussex NHS Trust in adult and elderly mental health and dementia, by the Ealing Music Therapy project, for children with complex special needs at Mandeville school, London, and in private practise with children and adults with moderate and severe learning disabilities, autism, acquired brain injury and adults with dementia. She has also worked for the Musika charitable trust in Romania offering music therapy to adults with learning disabilities living in large institutions (previously orphanages). Wendy has special interest and experience in working with people of all ages with profound and complex learning disabilities.
