Ruth Spencer

Ruth qualified as a Music Therapist in 1990 from Roehampton, following a degree in Music from Nottingham University. Ruth worked for Autism East Midlands (formerly NORSACA) for 8 years before moving to Sussex. She has many years’ experience working with clients with autism, learning disabilities and complex needs, emotional and behavioural problems and attachment issues. Ruth works with people of all ages, but has most experience working with children and young people aged 0-18 and of working with families. In addition to her work for Belltree, she works in Special Schools, Early Years settings, and with adult addicts in recovery. Ruth is a highly experienced trainer and mentor supporting practitioners who want to use music in their work with people with additional needs. Ruth is approved as a clinical supervisor by the British Association of Music Therapy (BAMT).
